Mould swabbing compounds are typically suspected of being the primary cause of black spots in glass but there are many other potential causes. This article outlines causes of black spots and what can be done to eliminate them, particulary in the manufacture of mayonnaise jars in which, because the contents are white, any black spots are particularly obvious.
