UK-based Zytronic plc said its full-year profit almost halved due to a 7% fall in its turnover for the period caused by lower demand in the ATM sector. The maker of touch screens, optical filters for electronic displays and laminated glass products posted a pretax profit of £641,000 for the year to 30 September 2007 from a restated pretax profit of £1.27M earlier. Turnover fell to £11.43M for the period from £12.3M reported in the year-ago period. The company said the return to higher ATM sales together with growth in sales of its touch sensors should improve its gross margins. It also said strong sales growth in all product groupings will reduce its dependence on the ATM market and expects a substantial improvement in the overall future profitability of the business.
