Zignago Vetro - Furnace Rebuilds Planned

In October this year and April 2015, work will be carried out for the rebuild of two furnaces at Zignago Vetro, one of Italy’s most important manufacturers of bottles and containers for the food sector. The announcement was made by the managing director of the company, Paolo Giacobbo, during a visit to the glassworks of the president of the Regione Toscana, Enrico Rossi, and councillor Vittorio Bugli. The aim of the rebuilds is to enable the production unit to keep up with the present national market situation, increase competitiveness and excellence at national level with investments of EUR 100 million. Giacobbo had already spoken about this in a press conference in September 2013, when he discussed the activities of the Empoli-based group that employs 220 people. “Furnaces have an average life span of 12 years and have already reached the peak of their productivity. And this is why Zignago is now making this important investment, focussing on Empoli as a strategic pole for Central Italy.”
