Yemen: Glass Sand Project Firm Meets Governor

The governor of Saada Governate in Yemen, Mutahar al-Masri met a delegation of Malaysian company Markmore, headed by the company's representative in Yemen Ahmed al-Sagaf, on 30 October 2007 to discuss the firm's glass sand project in the governate which is to start shortly after surveys are completed. The governor welcomed investment in the governorate in various fields, affirming the governorate leadership's support for the company. The proposed project is to establish silica sand plant which will manufacture high quality silica sand to be exported mainly to EU glass manufacturers. Installed annual capacity is exptected to be in the region of around 530,000/t.
