Wrap Achievements Report 2005/06

The UK's capacity to reprocess end-of-life flat glass has increased substantially during the last two years, and collections of flat glass for recycling are also starting to increase. WRAP has used a variety of promotional and business support tools to assist this growth, building upon the research and demonstration trials we completed in 2004. We have established that flat glass reprocessing capacity has increased by over 200,000 tonnes between 2004 and 2006, with WRAP directly facilitating around 18,000 tonnes of that capacity. The mext challenge is to improve the collection infrastructure for flat glass, given that the industry now has greater techincal capability to utlise the material.
