World'S Largest Electric Melter Commissioned

What's thought to be the world's largest all-electric glass melter has gone into operation at the new Cameron Family Glass Packaging (CFGP) wine plant in Kalama, Washington State, USA. The furnace, which has an output of 254/tpd (metric), was installed and commissioned by UK-based Electroglass in conjunction with the company's US distributor, Frazier Simplex. Electroglass also designed the furnace and supplied key equipment. The true cold top electric melter has a melting energy consumption of less than 750kW/h per metric tonne and no combustion emissions.
