Work Commences On Cullet Treatment Plant

Rockware Glass has started work on a £4.5m cullet treatment plant on the site of its Knottingley factory in West Yorkshire. When the new process comes on stream in January 2000, Rockware will be able to supply its four plants with the highest quality of glass cullet for producing jars and bottles from an in-house facility. The cullet treatment plant has the capacity to convert 150,000 tonnes of post consumer waste glass mateiral into substitute raw material for the glass manufacturing process. The company will be able to control all aspects of the operation for the benefits of its food and drink customers. Any impurities remaining in the reprocessed glass can lead to quality problems. These are already picked out by inspection equipment, however, the manufacturer wants to remove the problem at its source.
