Wine Packaging Success

Arbor Mist, a wine product recently launched by the Canandaigua Wine Company, is presented in an attractive acid-etched bottle from Ball-Foster. A matte, pressure sensitive label from Spear is used to create a distinctive "no-label" frosted bottle look. The labels are printed in seven colours with a screen/letterpress combination press. This printing method provides superior opacity for the brand identification and four-colour process for duplication of the fruit designators. Spear's labels which are applied by Canandaigua Wine in-line with product fill use a proprietary matte coating in order to match the label substrate to the bottle's acid etched texture. Standard pressure sensitive labels would create a "clear window" on an acid-etched bottle without this coating.
