Spanish container glassmaker Vidrala reported sales of €822.7m in 2017, a 5.1% increase from the previous year, with operating profit. EBITDA was €195.4m, an increase of 14.5% over the 2016 figure. According to Vidrala, this growth in sales was a result of the development of the business in line with its strategic guidelines as well as a positive contribution of the immediately accretive acquisition of Portuguese glassmaker Santos Barosa in 2017. The company stated there is a growing trend among consumers for glass as the packaging material of choice. As a consequence, the company expects earnings to grow in 2018, thanks also to management priorities that are focused on internal actions aimed at improving customer service, progressing in manufacturing efficiency and materialising the synergies expected from the recent acquisition.
