Verlipack - Ghlin Becomes La Manufacture Du Verre Sa

The Ghlin/Mons plant of the former Verlipack group was reborn on 4th January 2000, thanks to the "SME solution" which Dominique Balcaen, former plant manager of Crompton & Knowles/Tertre (dyestuff chemistry), has been expounding since last autumn. The Verlipack group's old glassworks was renamed La Manufacture du Verre SA on 1st January and will provide employment for 125 people in the Mons area. In a letter to the various parties involved in the relaunch of Verlipack/Ghlin, Mr Balcaen stated that he had just signed the agreement on the transfer of the glass company's assets with the administrators, "following finalisation of the financial agreements". Initially, 75 workers will start at the Ghlin plant on 4 Jan to operate two production lines, with a "reasonably full order book", according to the letter/press release.
