Latvian-based Valmiera Glass, manufacturer of fiberglass products, has announced it will invest around US$20m to locate its first US manufacturing facility and headquarters in Dublin, Georgia, creating 150 jobs within five years. Valmiera Glass will locate on 40 acres in an industrial park on I-16 in Dublin.The facility will manufacture fiberglass products for the N American market, heavily utilising the Port of Savannah. Because its manufacturing process is highly automated, the newly-created jobs will be well paid and will require well-trained candidates. Valmeira Glass will also take advantage of QuickStart, Georgia's top-ranked workforce training program. "The new manufacturing facility in the US is a customer-oriented business development step," said Andre H Schwiontek, VP of Valmiera Glass Group. "Valmiera Glass Group sales increase in N America each year with 14% of the total turnover of the company exported direcly to the US and Canada. Now we will have the ability to efficiently reach our current customers and grow our customer base," he added.
