[Usa] Owens-Illinois Break Ground 9 June On Glass Manufacturing Plant In Colorado

Owens-Illinois Inc announces the groundbreaking of its new state-of-the-art glass container facility in Weld County, Colorado. The facility will be among the highest output glass container plants in the US, producing over one billion bottles annually. Serving as the primary supplier to the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Fort Collins, the plant will employ around 150 people when it opens in the summer of 2005. It is the firm's first new facility in the US since 1980 and the industry's first new glass manufacturing plant since 1982. The plant is a significant economic investment to Colorado's economy. Over a 10 year period the plant expects to bring in $491M to the state and will generate more than $159M in Weld County alone.
