Ohio Governor Ted Strickland & O-I CEO Al Stroucken announced O-I's plans to further expand its glass R&D facilities on its campus in Perrysburg at a press conference. The company is investing $11.5M in laboratories & glass science R&D facilities adding 6,000/sq-ft & 32 new high-paying jobs at O-I's Advanced Glass Technology Center. The governor toured the new glass science labs with O-I officials. The governor, media, & O-I officials witnessed a demonstration of a new organic curable glass coating process developed in the labs. O-I also plans to invest $6M to pilot new product & manufacturing concepts at its Zanesville, Ohio plant that produces bottles for the spirits industry."Good things are happening at O-I & throughout Ohio as this company has invested in the future throughout the recession by providing good paying jobs for highly trained workers, said Strickland.
