[Usa] Ny Bar Code Headache

New York State authorities are looking to increase beer tax and encourage more pack recycling. So that deposits are only redeemed on deposits paid in the State, they are proposing State specific bar codes. The beer industry has been quick to oppose a proliferation of SKUs as unworkable. Dick Yuengling has even written to the Governor saying that his company, the oldest brewery in the States, will withdraw completely unless the proposal is watered down saying: "Even if we were willing to comply, I cannot get the requisite codes from the issuing body." Looks like a bit of a muddle.
