Demand for USA glassfibre is forecast to grow by 2.6% per year to 2.9m tonnes in the year 2000, according to a study by the Freedonia Group. It is predicted that the market will be worth US$5.4bn. Textile and reinforcement glassfibres are likely to show a better growth than glassfibre insulation as requirements for light, strong and corrosion-resistant materials in the automotive and construction sectors increase. The sector is projected to grow by 3.2% per year to 1m tonnes in 2001.
