[Usa] Cap Recycling Scheme Launched

Aveda is launching what it claims is the first scheme in the US to recycle plastic caps. The eco-friendly skincare products manufacturer said the Caps Recycling Program, starting September, will create new caps out of 100% recycled caps, a move that aims to reduce the impact of plastics pollution on marine life. Chuck Bennett of Avida said the program had been created to "help combat the devastating effects of plastic cap pollution, & to increase awareness of this critical issue. Recycling caps is a meaningful form of environmental activism. Every cap we prevent from becoming trash is one less piece of plastic in the mouth of a baby seal, penguin or turtle," he added. The scheme will enlist the participation of beauty salons, spas & retailers, as well as partnering with community schools across the US to collect plastic PE caps from water bottles, detergents and shampoos.
