Wine consumption is expected to drop in the US for the first time in 20 years, according to the Silicon Valley Bank’s annual State of the Wine Industry Report. It’s expected that tens of thousands of vineyards will be removed in California's Central Valley, which will significantly cut into production and drive prices higher. Experts blame generational shifts for the drop in consumption, as the growing millennial market does not have as high an attachment to wine as the generations before it.
