Gostomel Glass, one of the largest glass container produces in Eastern Europe, has been taken over by Vetropack of Switzerland, which has acquired a majority 63% shareholding in the company. Gostomel has been modernising its plant, which specialises in making beer and vodka bottles. Vetropack has been growing its network of plants in recent years and now has glassworks in several countries in Central and Eastern Europe. Meanwhile, Biomedsteklo, a Ukraine producer of pharmaceutical glass packaging, has been acquired by Greece's Yioula Glassworks. This brings Yioula into the pharmaceutical packaging field for the first time.
