Statistics released recently by Recycle Now reveal that household recycling has increased threefold in the last 10 years to 38%, closing the gap on the target to recycle 50% of household waste in England by 2020. Recycle Now's latest poll of 4,000 UK adults revealed that only 2% of people now feel recycling is a waste of time and 95% are recycling at least one item. Reusing unwanted items is also popular for those not recycling: with 21% of UK residents saying they give unwanted goods to charity shops and nearly one in ten selling their items online. However, there is still progress to be made with regard to the range of materials recycled in the UK. Though the majority of people say that common items such as paper (89%) and glass bottles/jars (84%) are being recycled, only 31% of respondents said they are recycling electronic equipment.
