The Mexican government has launched a drive to establish a stronger foothold for the country's wines and spirits in the lucrative UK market. An umbrella organisation has been set up to promote Mexico's drinks sector following the successes of S American counterparts Chile and Argentina into he UK and EU markets. ProMexico - part of the governments trade and investment agency - is spear heading a push for the already well-known brands of tequila, the lesser-known spirit mezcal and wines from Mexico's chief wine making regions including Baja. Trade officer for ProMexico, Eduardo Flores Flores said: "Mexican wines are rapidly becoming the new "it" among consumers with a refined taste."
