United Glass responded to an emergency call from drinks manufacturer Diageo by turning out a new product in less than 8 weeks. Cacique rum is usually bottled in Venezuela, however, problems with production forced Diageo to look elsewhere for a short-term solution. The company moved its drink production to its Scottish plant and asked UG to reproduce the bottle design normally used in a short space of time. The oval white flint glass bottle design features a deep, triangular label panel on both front and rear faces and a non-refillable finish. UG puts its rapid development time down to concurrent bottle and mould designs, its project management system and staff flexibility. (whole item)
