Turkish glassmaker Trakya Cam Sanayii recently announced in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, that it will invest $320M in two production lines to increase competitive capacity. The company owns an 85% share in the Polatli Cam unit. The statement said the production lines will have 580,000/t flat glass production capacity and the investment would be completed in 2013. Trakya Cam is Sisecam's flagship company in the flat glass segment, mainly producing high-quality float, figured, coated, laminated, mirror and auto glass types. The company has an overall annual production capacity of 1.5M/tpa, operating with seven float lines; six in Turkey (Kirklareli; Luleburgaz; Mersin; Tarsus; Bursa; Yenisehir), and one in Targovishte, Bulgaria. It also has joint ventures with Saint-Gobain in Egypt & Russia. Trakya Cam has been one of the greatest beneficiaries of the strong growth, low interest rate environment throughout 2010 and 2011. As the company's end-markets are strongly correlated with GDP developments, its sales were boosted in the same period.
