Tt Group - 1997 Interim Results

Despite the strength of the pound, in the first six months of this year the TT Group Plc has seen positive earnings. Group turnover increased to £294.8m from £266.6m last year, for a growth of 11%. Pre-tax profits have grown from £22.8m to £27m, an increase of 18%, and earnings per share have gone up from £9.6 to £11.4, on increase of 19%. In the company's packaging division, glass container activities continued to make good progress in niche markets for specialist and short run containers supplied to household names in the food and drinks industries. Packaging division turnover for the first half of 1997 totalled £31.3m, up from £30.8m for the same period in 1996, while operating profit increased from £5.6m to £6m. (whole item)
