Transparent Yag Ceramics

Konoshima Chemical Co Ltd, has been developing transparent ceramics since the 1980s, yttrium-aluminium-garnet (YAG) ceramic being one of them. Since the beginning of the development process, Konoshima researchers have collaborated with researchers at the National Institute for Materials science, Japan. In order to obtain high transparency, the company fabricates YAG ceramic using in-house-developed high-purity raw materials. Specifically, the YAG precursor is fabricated by wet chemical synthesis and calcined to obtain YAG powder. After milling, a desired form is obtained by the slip casting method. Finally, highly transparent YAG ceramic is obtained by the traditional sintering process.
