Thermal-Shock Machine For Glass Containers

This article takes a look at the latest offerings from Vidromecanica, which includes a thermal shock machine, used to test the resistance of hollow glass to thermal changes at temperatures in excess of 100 deg C due to: hot packaging processes; article transfer from hot to cold surrounding & vice-versa; washing operation; pasteurisation. The machine is essentially composed by a basket where the containers are placed in vertical position, & by two tanks, one containing hot water & one containing cold water. Both tanks have water circulation to assure uniform temperature in every point of the bath. The machine has 2 pumps to maintain water at the required temperature by circulation of hot & cold water. Both tanks have a thermometer granting accurate reading of water temperature. The program on the PLC transfers the container basket from the hot bath to the cold bath.
