Tariq Glass Industries of Pakistan is to import a further machine to make lightweight glass and a double gob press machine, and aims to start production with them later in the year. The company launched lightweight tableware in 2002 under the name "Nova" but the desired efficiencies of its lightweight manufacturing machine could not be achieved due to the non-availaiblity of technical experts and data in Pakistan. One of its two furnaces was rebuilt and as a result was not able to produce for four months, but full production capacity was available in 2003. Natural gas supply to the furnaces was interrupted by a sabotage incident and production from both furnaces was stopped as a result for almost a month. Furnace temperatures were maintained using furnace oil at extra cost with no production.
