Supermarkets Set For Paper Wine Bottles

Paper wine bottles are set to hit supermarket shelves by October. Kingsland Wines and Spirits said the paper bottle, developed with packaging specialist GreenBottle, would be used by a major retailer for an own-label line. "Retailers want to get behind it and be the first to market," said Kingsland project manager, Richard Leaver. Kingsland showcased the format with a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Austrialian Shiraz under new Kingsland label "Thirsty Earth" which Leaver said was likely to come to market January 2013. The shells are made of recycled paper that is pulp moulded and sealed around a vacuum-formed laminated plastic lining.
