Strong Waterford Performance

A strong performance by Waterford saw pre-tax profits at Waterford Wedgwood rise by over 7% in the first six months of 1997 to IR£10.2m. Group sales increased by 7% to IR£174.9. Waterford's turnover in the period rose to IR£70.3m and operating profits were up 31% to IR£6.7m. Sales at Wedgwood were 3% ahead at IR£104.6m while operating profits fell by 9.5% at IR£5.7m
