Beatson Clark has installed a £120,000 inspection system from INEX on one of its amber glass production lines to help it secure major new contracts from its customer, Guinness. The investment will also benefit other customers for the 60M bottles/year made on the line. INEX updated the inspection equipment with an electronic base and top inspector in only five weeks, half the usual installation time. The fast turnaround helped Beatson Clark to meet tighter deadlines for its first order from Guinness. The inspector uses PC software to detect faulty bottles for rejection. Job set-up details can be stored for future use and communications networking gives instant feedback to operators. Beatson Clark now has base and top inspectors on four of its 11 lines. Further investment is planned on refurbishing existing machines. (whole item)
