Premium brand Stella Artois has become the first alcoholic beverage company to sign up to the Courtauld Commitment with the aim of reducing its packaging waste. As part of the agreement, Stella Artois said it has already met one of the agreed objectives of designing out packaging waste growth by 2008. The company will also aim to deliver "absolute reductions" in packaging waste by 2010 & identify ways to help tackle the problem of food waste. A voluntary agreement between the WRAP & major UK grocery organisations, the Courtauld Commitment support less packaging & food waste ending up in household bins. Nicola Jenkin, beverages category manager at WRAP, said:"We hope that having such an established brand on board, which has already demonstrated its commitment to reducing packaging, will be a leading example for the others to follow."
