Stainless Steel Fabric Solves Vacuum Pad Issues

Pyrotek has worked with a customer to develop a prototype vacuum pad for testing. The vacuum pad was specially constructed using Pyrotherm STS stainless steel knitted fabric, which is sewn together with stainless steel thread. This finely woven fabric does not thermally check hot glass, and it does not cause physical marking on contact with it. The customer tried the prototype vacuum pad on one of its robotic ware transfer pick-ups and reported positive results. As a result, instead of pads which lasted one 8-hr shift, the prototypes made from the stainless steel fabric were lasting for more than a month. Since converting to this pad, the speciality glass maker has reported that it gets an average life of 5-6 weeks from pads. The decrease in labour & equipment downtime has resulted in consequent savings for the firm. Email Pyrotek: info@pyrotek.info
