St Austell Brewery Improves Green Credentials

The recent official opening of the St. Austell brewery, located in Cornwall, with its new in-house bottling line, was attended by hundreds of people. During the opening, honorary president of the family-owned brewery, Piers Thompson, unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion. The hi-tech line, which was supplied by Krones and installed by specialist builders and engineers, will be able to produce 100,000 bottles of beer per week. Thanks to the new bottling line, the brewery will become one of the most eco-friendly in the country, eliminating road miles and lorry loads previously involved in bottling the beer. The new glass bottles are 25% lighter than the originals, making them more energy efficient to produce.
