BANGALORE (AFX) - Piramal Group chairman Ajay Piramal may be in the running for the specialty bottles unit of Saint-Gobain, said a report in Indian business daily DNA Money. The deal, to be spearheaded by Piramal unit Gujarat Glass, will be worth about 600 mln eur and 'could end in a leveraged buyout', the paper said. Both companies declined to confirm the report, with Ajay Piramal calling it 'media speculation.' In September, Saint-Gobain launched a strategic review of its speciality bottles activities, including the Desjonqueres business, which it said 'may result in one or more partnerships with industrial or financial investors.' Last month, French media reported Saint Gobain's decision to sell Desjonqueres but remain in the glass packaging sector.
