TEEM Photonics, a leader in optical communications, and Glass Technology Services (Glass Technology Services), which develops and produces customised special glasses, are working together to produce a high quality optical glass for processing into high performance power splitters. TEEM Photonics produces optically passive and active components. Experienced in ion exchange and silica deposition technologies, the company designs and manufactures new glass wave guide functions at the source of DWDM fibre network expansion. Glass Technology Services was selected to do the melting and characterising of the glasses needed for the wave guides because of its expertise in manufacturing special glasses. It has completed the initial stages of the project and is supplying the glass for TEEM Photonics to exploit commercially. (whole item)
