Spanish Float Glass Plant

Glaverbel and Pilkington have announced that they are to form a 50-50 joint partnership to construct and operate a float glass plant in Spain. The plant will be built at Sagunto, next to the existing Pilkington automotive plant and will have a sales capacity of around 150,000 tonnes/year. It will also be located within easy access of Glaverbel's Pedragosa network of processing and distribution subsidiaries which serve the Spanish construction industry and will be operational in the year 2000. The move will allow both companies to supply their Spanish markets more economically from capacity matched to local demand. The venture is subject to regulatory approval. (whole item)
