Young adults are the least active glass recyclers in Spain according to a survey by Ecovidrio, the not-for-profit company which manages national container glass recycling. The study, carried out in March & April 2006 by market research firm Quor among Spaniards aged 18-65, showed that 1 in 4 aged 18-34 do not habitually recycle glass. The most active age group in glass recycling is those aged 45-54. Curiously, those aged 18-24 and 25-34 are the most receptive to awareness raising campaigns on glass recycling. The impact, interest and attraction of these campaigns among the young is above the average for the rest of the populations. As a result, it seems possible that this greater openness to the message on recycling is behind another fact to emerge from the study: 1 in 5 of those aged 18-24 has started recycling glass in the last year.
