[South Africa] Nampak'S New Furnace Sparks Packaging Renaissance

There are two major factors driving economic growth and the demand for packaged goods in Africa. "As the African consumer becomes more affluent, they are increasingly demanding more sophisticated packaging" and, according to Nampak CE, Andre De Ruyter, "Economic growth rates in Africa are such that, because of the investment Nampak has made over the last few years, the percentage growth that the company is able to capture is very good." De-Ruyter was speaking at an event to commemorate Nampak's 30th Anniversary and the opening of a new 1.2BN/Rand glass furnace, also highlighted the firm's growth, with operations in 12 African countries. The furnace was supplied by German engineering company Horn Glass AG.
