Soda Ash Consumption Improving As Production Rises In The Us

According to a recent press report, soda ash consumption in the US is improving, although caustic soda consumption in the pulp and paper industry is expected to drop slightly in 1999. Meanwhile, US production of natural soda ash rose 3% in November 1998 to 860,000 tonnes. The ending inventory for the month rose slightly to about 323,000 tonnes. Apparent consumption for October was up 5% on the previous year at 560,000 tonnes.
