Turkey's Sisecam has announced plans to build a greenfield flat glass plant in Bulgaria, making this the first factory of its kind in Southeast Europe. The initial investment will be US$100M, while in time the total will reach around US$180M and will be the largest greenfield investment so far in this country. The plant will have capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum with construction due to start this year and production in 2005. Siscam's affiliate company, Trakiya, the only flat glass manufacturer in Turkey will be in charge of the project.
