Turkey's Sisecam group plans to build a glass bottle plant at Ufa in the southern Urals and begin production within a year. It is to be equipped with two furnaces, each costing $45-50M. Production is to be located in the Shaksha Industrial Area, at a site originally intended for a paper mill. As planned, the Ufa plant could fully meet demand in the Ural market, put at 900M bottles/year. The top priority would be to secure orders with the Krasnousolsky bottle plant. Sisecam produces non-returnable beer bottles. In 2004, the group opened a bottle plant in the Vladimir region and is building another in the Vologda region. (whole item)
