Shedding Some Light On Lamp-Shell Production

Integrated Glass Technologies Ltd (IGT), the UK based glass technology company, provides on-going support to the lighting glass industry formerly produced by Demaglass Technology. IGT, managed and staffed by ex-Dema employees, was successfully launched in 2000 in response to customers needs for ribbon machine technology. Ribbon machines which employ a continuous rolled ribbon of glass, rather than individual formed "fried eggs" offer the ultimate in high speed GLS lamp-shell production. They are typically 10 times faster than rotary machines and produce shells of much higher tolerance and better glass distribution. Such high quality lamp-shells are a prerequisite for high speed lamp groups that need highly consistent glass components. Shells from rotary machines are unsuitable.
