Sedimentor Offers Economical Solution

Fluid Solutions has recently developed a sedimentor, or microparticle separation unit, as an economic alternative to conventional filters, centrifuges and cyclones for the automatic separation of solids and entrained liquid from contaminated process fluids. The sedimentor uses a cleaning cassette, tightly packed with small diameter hydrodynamic tubes. During operation the tubes are positioned horizontally, providing an effective high capacity separation area. Contaminated fluid is passed through the sedimentor, designed to accommodate particle settlement speeds as low as 5-10mm/h, under laminar flow conditions. This allows automatic continous separation at realistic flow rates, for individual fluid contaminant loadings.
