165 jobs are under threat at a Yorkshire glass manufacturing company which has been placed into administration. SLI Glass, which makes glass light bulbs & fluorescent tube casings, has blamed spiralling gas costs & the loss of a major client for the move. The latest setback comes after the Yorkshire Post revealed earlier this month that Britain's glass industry lost 1,000 jobs, including 200 from Yorkshire-based companies, over the last quarter of 2005, as the industry struggled to cope with soaring energy prices. Ian Brown & Neville Kahn of Deloitte have been appointed administrators of SLI Glass The company is a subsidiary of SLI UK Holdings, which has agreed to provide funding support to the administrators whilst the business is reviewed & the potential to dispose of some or all of the company as a going concern is investigated.
