Scrumpy Jack Marketed In A New Glass Bottle

Cider firm Scrumpy Jack has released a 500ml glass bottle for its premium brand in the UK. The company, whose namesake cider has previously been available in 275ml bottles & 500ml cans, said that it wants to position itself as an alternative to other premium packaged ales using glass bottles as their main off-trade pack. Scrumpy Jack, longstanding `official pint' of the England cricket team, has labelled the new bottles in green, gold & burgundy with a cream background. Scrumpy Jack brand manager Graham Scobie said: "With an Ashes [cricket] tour coming up, we felt it was appropriate to have a glass packed, metric `pint' available for people to toast the team's success down under. Scrumpy Jack has enjoyed record sales this year as premium cider has taken its place at dinner tables & social occasions alongside wines, ales & premium lagers." The Bulmers-owned grower, part of Scottish_&_Newcastle's stable of brands, noted that bottled cider as a whole is enjoying a huge sales uplift and stronger market positioning in the UK market.
