Scott Glass is supplying a 3.7m mirror made from Zerodur glass ceramic for a large astronomic telescope being built for use at the foot of the Himalayas, NE of New Delhi, India. Zerodur is particularly known for its coefficient of thermal expansion that is close to zero. This prevents deviations from occurring while measuring the sky, as a result of shifts in temperature. The material also offers high homogeneity, chemical stability and long-term stability of mechanical properties.
