Schott Opens New Penang Plant

Schott Glass Malaysia is projecting a 60% increase in sales with the opening of its new optical components building in Penang's Prai free industrial zone. Schott group board of management member, Dr K Merz, said the new plant, which produced optical filter glass and Maxos safety sight glass, would contribute substantially to the company's growth. "We expect our sales to go up to RM114M next year from the current RM 71M," he said. The optical components building has expanded the factory's total production space to 14,000 sq/m and created 100new jobs.
