Schott To Close Sfam Plant At Aumale In France

Schott Glaswerke has announced that it intends to close its plant at Aumale in the Seine-Maritime department in Normandy, France belonging to one of its subsidaries, Societe Francaise d'Ampoules Medicales (SFAM) this summer. The closure is part of the reorganization of its pharmaceutical containers business, which is to be centred on its plants at Casteljalous and at Pont-sur-Yonne. Under the plan, production of double-pointed ampoules is to be transferred to Casteljaloux, a plant which, according to the management, is more cost-effective, while production of ampoule bottles and small bottles for perfume samples is to go to Pont-sur-Yonne.
