Lubisol Engineering Co. is offering a package of better materials and crown design for hermetic sealing and thermal insulation of glass furnace silica crowns. When the usual light silica insulation is replaced by the more efficient Lubisol insulation, the heat losses from the crown are reduced by about 1000 W/m². The amount of the saved fuel is 1400 m³/m²/year natural gas or 1300 kg/m²/year heavy oil. The Lubisol package was applied in the last several years on 76 furnaces of leading glass producers like Asahi Glass, Vetropack, Gerresheimer, Sisecam, Hindustan National Glass, Wiegand Glass, Arc International, Beatson Clark, Piramal Glass, AGI Glasspac, PQ Europe and others. A large number of the furnaces with Lubisol crown insulation were designed by Asahi Glass, Sisecam, Sorg GmbH, HORN Glass Industries and Tecoglass.
