German container & construction glass maker Saint-Gobain Oberland AG, a unit of France's Saint-Gobain, posted a net profit of EUR 30.5M in 2005, up from EUR 22.1M in 2004, the company said, 27/03/06. The increase was mostly due to continued effort to improve productivity, & the gain from the sale of the glass bricks business. Turnover was EUR 305.3M in 2005, down from EUR 335M a year ago. Saint-Gobain Oberland sold its glass bricks business to Italian group Seves on 30/06/05. The unit generated EUR 12M sales in the first six months of 2005 & EUR 24.4M in 2004. Saint-Gobain Oberland will propose a dividend of EUR 30.50/share for 2005, up from EUR 22.20 a year earlier. The annual general meeting is scheduled for 31 May 2006.
