Saint-Gobain To Invest In Tamil Nadu

Saint-Gobain is to invest another Rs 500 Crore in Tamil Nadu. The company has recently signed an expression of commitment with the State Government for the investment. Mr J Aschenbroich, Chairman/President of Saint-Gobain Vitrage, signed the expression of commitment with Mr A Ramanathan, Tamil Nadu Industries Secretary. Saint-Gobain has previously set up a float glass manufacturing plant at Sriperumbudur through a wholly-owned subsidiary, Saint-Gobain Glass india Ltd. The plant, set up at an investment or Rs 525 Crore, has a capacity of 650 tonnes/day and commenced commercial production in July 2000. It makes a range of glass used in the automotive and construction industries, green glass, reflective glass, solar control products, and mirrors. According to a State press release the investment will start in 2004 and be completed in 3 years.
